There are few things in every day life that make you feel like a rapper. Aside from the obvious rocking shows and selling records etc., one of the most gratifying ones is being recognized in public places. Now there have been a few instances of people on the street knowing who I am and the exchange usually goes like this:

“Hey yo…you PackFM?”
“Yeah..sup”
“Whattup man, I been following u since back in the days at Nuyurican”
“Oh word? That’s whats up man”
“Yeah, My name is MC____, I’m finishing my album now….....”

You can figure out the rest of the convo from there.
And there have even been some really cool ones like the time I got to skip the entire line for the SpiderMan ride at Universal Studios based on being PackFM. (that was even cooler because my girl and her friends were there so I wore my temporary YTMND badge)

But how often do you get to be recognized in a way that make ya mama proud? This past weekend my mother ran into an old friend who she hadn’t seen in years and the lady had her grandson with her. So my mother is talking and showed her a picture and said “This is my son, Omar” and the lady’s grandson says “Hey, that’s PackFM”.
My mother told me the story with all smiles.

So with that being said, when you see a rapper, or anyone who’s work you appreciate for that matter, acknowledge them and let them know. It just might make their day. Just don’t try to rap to them. ;)

P.S. I F*ckin Hate Rappers
