[VIDEO] Beatboxing In Tokyo (2001)
written by Substantial on Apr 4, 2008
So I was going thru some old footage of my first tour in Japan with Nujabes, and I stumbled across this video. A lot of you folks know I love to beatbox, I don’t claim to be the best at it, but I’m always down to drop a beat when needed. Anyway, in Japan a lot of people really enjoy seeing it in my set, so I try to include it as much as possible. So check out this footage of my intro to the Hyde Out Productions Japan Tour Finale in Tokyo @ Club Harlem, December 2001.
Also, I kinda have a thing for Happi Coats. It’s like a decorative gi (jacket/robe) for men. I collect them. Every time I visit Japan I try to purchase one. Plus it’s like one of the few things I can find that fits me out there. So on this trip I bought the one you see me rocking in the video. On the back you see the character for “Ichiban” (Number 1) and on the front, it has characters that say firefighter. It was a cool collector’s item because I copped it not too long after 9-11 where a lot of firefighters gave up their lives for others. I still have it/rock it. The pics in the Sacrifice cover show me rocking my other two Happi coats. Can’t wait to go back and cop some more.
Shout out to Nujabes & Pack Rock, who you can’t see but were both in the background holding me down.
Stay in Peace
